Ewwww!!

This post is mainly for David's family...mostly Tim, but all will appreciate it. See the Short brothers do some weird stuff to one another like kick each other's butts (literally, but with fists and for fun). One of D's brothers also yanks on his dad's elbow (all that extra "bow skin"). But the one that grosses me out the most is when he bends his ear (or his un-suspecting brothers' or parents') forward. I have a really hard time watching...eww! Shouldn't ears have enough cartilage to prevent the top of the ear from touching the lobe? I'm shuddering as I describe this. Well, as I was getting Kaia out of the van, I noticed some ear action. The camera was right there, so I got a bit of it on tape. Enjoy Short fam! :)

Tennessee Fourth

Oddly enough, we spent our 4th of July in TN. My brother Mark and his family live in Franklin, which is just outside Nashville. It was beautiful there and the weather cooperated quite nicely. Fortunately, everyone's schedules worked, so my entire immediate family was able to be there. 13 people, including 4 kids under 6 years old, in one house. Thankfully, we managed to dodge most pitfalls that such close quarters might amount to, which is both a testament to our wonderful family and to Mark's huge, comfortable home. Major fun was had by all.

Some highlights were playing games, watching my Dad draw stencils with the grandkids, watching the Wimbledon tennis final, fireworks at a local park and exploring downtown Music City. I must say, I'm not sure what I was expecting to see in downtown Nashville. I knew full well that it was the music capital of our country, but I was not braced for just how much music there was. We walked all over downtown and almost every single building/storefront had a live band playing music. Crazy.

Grandparents Visit

Kaia had the privilege of meeting her grandparents (my parent's) last week. It was cool that they were able to come in to meet Kaia so close to her birth. I loved watching them hold her and cuddle with her.

We were able to play some games and savor some great meals. It was a wonderful time.

I'll forever be grateful to my parents for showing me how to love and how to be a parent. Because of them, I can have confidence that Kaia will always have more than enough love.
