We had great success in packing more compactly. Mostly because my sister-in-law provided most everything we needed for us: high chair, pack n play, various amentities, ... Check out this organization - one pile for each of us.
We were pretty nervous about flying out w/o Kaia in her own chair. She's at that fun age of walking and being more independent, but she did so well. We gave her a small dose of Benadryl to keep her ears open and also with hopes that it would help her relax. Well, it worked, along with our prayers, and she slept in our arms on both legs of the trip there!! On the way back, we were able to get her car seat on the plane, which helped tremendously. Kids just know what to do when they're strapped into one of those (we were willing to pay some for her to have her own carseat, but they wanted $600 for her ticket - just a bit out of our price range).
Laid back for us and blast for Kaia! Thanks Mark and April for your amazing hospitality!
Lastly, thanks to Dan & Linda, who also spoiled us...taking us all out, getting us there, playing games, ... Oh, they also got us a bunch of gift cards:
